Dress: sister’s Zara | Shoes: Christian Louboutin, similar | Sunnies: Versace, similar | Bracelets: Ann Taylor – seriously want this one, Stella & Dot, Madewell, similar | Watch: Kate Spade | Rings: Nicola Chong Jewellery & GLAMROCKS design

So I did it. I bit the bullet. Pulled the trigger. Saved like there was no tomorrow…and got them. And let me tell you.

I L O V E T H E M.

Almost so much that it would seem pathetic. I mean they are shoes right. Just shoes. Shoes with a killer heel, an amazing cut out by the toes, a colour I can wear almost everyday, and that red. Oh my that perfect shade of RED.

Do they hurt your feet. Of course- when I wear them for an entire night. But so do my $20 shoes, and they hurt so much more. I love how my feet look in them, how slender my legs look. Ok maybe this is a love love relationship with my shoes – I know I’ll stop.

But so I wore them to the wedding we went to, and then this outfit to a bridal shower yesterday. With the sister’s brand spanking new Zara dress which is now sold out- yes-Great purchase!

Now onto bigger things…should I get them in black? Just kidding…I may wait a bit. But man, hot shoes can seriously make a girl feel special.

Happy Monday!

Let’s get real…

I love weddings. I love the idea of having a day to share in someones love, to watch real men cry, to watch pieces of art that are wedding gowns parade down that aisle. I love eating great food, getting to drink as much as you want, and party like there is no tomorrow. I love having an event to go to, with someone/people I love and share a great night out with almost no care in the world.

I am not the girl who has her wedding planned. Nor am I the girl who has “dreamed” about this day her whole life.

I am just the girl who loves going to beautiful events. The girl who knows pretty much exactly what she wants about everything.

I am the girl who knows exactly which song she would love to dance to with her guy- this one. Which photographer she wants – this one. Who she wants to write signs like the ones above - this one. The girl who knows most definitely that she will have peonies at her wedding- a family sentiment. Who also maybe has made an entire board of gorgeous weddings she loves, and would love to have eventually.

I know what I want…for that day…when it comes. Don’t worry, you will know…

But I have always loved weddings..and cannot wait for this weekend when the bf and I attend a seriously awesome black tie affair- may have gotten a kick-ass dress in coral, and spoiled myself with my first pair of Louboutin heels- in nude. It is gonna be a James Bond kind of night-eeeeek!

Happy Thursday lovelies!

The event of the weekend…

layout1

So our (me and the bf’s) really good friends were having a birthday/housewarming party this past weekend! They had been living there for a long while, and had yet to have a party because once they were all settled in – there was a flood in the condo! As this party was long due, and Laura and I have very similar tastes in decor/design and everything else, we needed to make this party one to remember!

Starting a secret Pinterest board, taking over the decor aspect completely without the boy knowing about it – we Pinterest(ed) it up! We decided on the theme Girls vs Boys.

We made a glittery banner for the girls, and a construction/kraft paper one for the boys.

Girl side: Crudités, chocolate covered strawberries, strawberry mojito, cupcakes, candy bar, cheese spread, mason jar drinks, lip confetti and candles for decor – as well as leopard black and gold napkins.

Guys side: Pulled pork sandwiches, jalapeño poppers, chips and salsa, Gin & Tonic station, charcuterie platter, and moustache mugs.

A fantastic time was had by all…and another one for the Toast portfolio!

Thanks Laura & Jordan, you guys throw a great party!

Baby love…

*all images taken by us!

Well this past weekend was M’s Baby Shower!

Oh my it was fun, and I’ve been looking forward to it for such a long time! She is so preggers and so adorable…you’ll have to pinch me! She is really only showing in her lovely belly, and sometimes you can’t even tell she’s preggers. We had funny baby games, too much food, lovely desserts (Prairie Girl Cupcakes – uh to die for), so much help from the Mama’s (both our Mama’s rocked!) and my perfect assistant (my sister)…and just a ridiculously awesome wholesome fun time with so much love and presents (always a good thing).

Everything really went according to plan – although we had so many left overs…better than making our guests starve though..huh!

But man am I pooped- parties are a ton of work.

But as I gaze into those pics, I hope that we can inspire others for their showers/parties because if I do say so myself…these I , think are “Pinterest” worthy.

We did it lovely ladies – yay to us!

As I have told some of you before over the past 3 years of my relationship, that this time of year has been one spent inside. Three levels, 3 years of studying, 3 years of CFA. The bf is studying yet again, and this season, when it is not quite warm out…but almost getting there we spend it inside. Inside where I begin again to be the supportive girlfriend (not that I am not normally). But this time of year, I am even more supportive.

Laundry is done, apartment is clean, cooking is happening…always.

With those 3 years, and this year of studying, I find myself wondering and thinking about what it means to be a good girlfriend, a good partner, a good spouse. There are so many things. Men and women are very different, and we offer different things to each relationship. I spoke earlier about what it meant to be “domestic”. And when we are going through these months, the domestic factor definitely comes into play again. I am the one helping out with the chores that are usually done by women- not to be sexist…but really sterotypical. The cooking…the cleaning…the helping out.

This is how I can help him out, and therefore this is what I will do. Help him reach his full potential in the work force, which will then in return eventually buy us a house, a car, and a life/lifestyle. I am really grateful that the bf does what he does, as he is very good at it, because he definitely makes more than the average Canadian (not that I think what is does is worthy of that amount..I mean it isn’t brain surgery or teaching young ones, or even non-for-profit). But I am grateful that our life, and our children will grow up with many opportunities.

However, every weekend. I am here. Laundry-ing, and cooking, and cleaning. And boy-oh-boy…it is exhausting. I mean I don’t have any kids yet, or other obligations (other than work stuff). But reflecting on everything we as a couple are pretty good with splitting up certain things, and I have no problem with allowing him to be “the man” and take out the garbage, or change the lightbulbs, or climb that ladder to get things. No problemo- be the man.

So at this time of year… I will see you inside, with my computer on the coffee table, TV in front of me, pile of laundry beside me and a huge Lasagne in the oven!

All images via our secret Pinterest board!

So we at Nest have a Mama-to-be…and are throwing her an awesome baby shower in a little while. I thought that we could show you some of our ideas for the event…and then of course we will show you the actual event. Her colours are grey, white and yellow. And she loves chevrons.

With that said, I, N – designed the invitations (which we will show you later), and M, M’s sister and I have done all the decor. This week we will be tieing up all the loose ends of the party, and getting ready to play ridiculous games, and have a grand time!

How lovely are little parties… huh? Any excuse to decorate for me!

Thanks for reading, happy weekend!
