Let’s get real…

I have this itch. This severe itch to redecorate the spaces I spend time in. Whether it is a small addition, a re-purposing idea, or to revamp the entire thing. It is there.

As you know I re-did my room (here, here, here, here). And I have refinished a few things…here.

So ya’ll know I can design..haha. But this idea of me constantly improving my spaces is fun, but exhausting. I mean I am always always in my everyday life, helping people change their spaces. Come up with new ideas, find them make creative uses of their spaces as is and it is rare that we really get to just revamp!

Wondering why for the rant today… well all you lovely Instagram followers of mine know that the bf loves me so much and has allowed me to change aspects of his space. Which is this one on the website. A bit too manly and cold right?

The bf knows that I constantly want to change his space…even though I don’t live there. So I sneakily keep adding more pillows, or changing their covers, putting candles and picture frames where I can. And buying new bedding (which my mother would say I am notorious for!) So I finally decided to approach the topic, after we had had plenty of conversations about the idea of us moving in together – which will not be happening unless we get a townhouse/house.

My pitch was why not make the best of the fact that we have this decent place here, and the rent is good. Let’s make it a little step closer to being more like “us”.

With a good long convo- about money and longevity and money, and maybe the fact that revamping it will not make me want to spend more time here, and a semi “Ok you can do a few things”.

Slash that was my take on me getting the go-ahead and that is all I have been doing for the past 4 days.

I pretty much got everything I want except: a slipcovered sofa, a new rug, new side chairs, new dining table and some wallpaper. BUT I seriously got a ton of improvements from the before and guess what…

He likes it better.

The new and improved place is cozier, more welcoming, and much much more grown up.

I will post the reveal eventually, but for now follow me on Instagram @natach11 for the latest!

Happy Tuesday lovelies!

The event of the weekend…

layout1

So our (me and the bf’s) really good friends were having a birthday/housewarming party this past weekend! They had been living there for a long while, and had yet to have a party because once they were all settled in – there was a flood in the condo! As this party was long due, and Laura and I have very similar tastes in decor/design and everything else, we needed to make this party one to remember!

Starting a secret Pinterest board, taking over the decor aspect completely without the boy knowing about it – we Pinterest(ed) it up! We decided on the theme Girls vs Boys.

We made a glittery banner for the girls, and a construction/kraft paper one for the boys.

Girl side: Crudités, chocolate covered strawberries, strawberry mojito, cupcakes, candy bar, cheese spread, mason jar drinks, lip confetti and candles for decor – as well as leopard black and gold napkins.

Guys side: Pulled pork sandwiches, jalapeño poppers, chips and salsa, Gin & Tonic station, charcuterie platter, and moustache mugs.

A fantastic time was had by all…and another one for the Toast portfolio!

Thanks Laura & Jordan, you guys throw a great party!

How could this space not speak to me! With the Muskoka Beach Cottage in full swing, we are moving things up in the next few weeks! So excited!

Toast!

Hey everyone, so remember when I mentioned that there would be big events. It seems like 2013 is our year huh!

Maya being preggers, Nest getting their first ever Muskoka cottage, and now….

…no not engaged…

I am starting a new company, an Event Design one. Teaming up with Steamwhistle Brewery- my friend Dana- I will now cater to birthday parties, baby showers, open houses, dinner parties, weddings…you name it!

I decided to call it Toast, because I wanted it to be about celebrations. Nothing specific to the style of party, but something everyone can relate to, like Nest.

After hosting Maya’s baby shower, I contacted Prairie Girl Bakery here in Toronto…and now they are using some of my pics on their FB page, and in their marketing – yay!

Here is a sneak peak of the images the sister and I took for the website – some of them we are not using, and some of them are “action/candid shots”.

Hope you like!

Baby love…

*all images taken by us!

Well this past weekend was M’s Baby Shower!

Oh my it was fun, and I’ve been looking forward to it for such a long time! She is so preggers and so adorable…you’ll have to pinch me! She is really only showing in her lovely belly, and sometimes you can’t even tell she’s preggers. We had funny baby games, too much food, lovely desserts (Prairie Girl Cupcakes – uh to die for), so much help from the Mama’s (both our Mama’s rocked!) and my perfect assistant (my sister)…and just a ridiculously awesome wholesome fun time with so much love and presents (always a good thing).

Everything really went according to plan – although we had so many left overs…better than making our guests starve though..huh!

But man am I pooped- parties are a ton of work.

But as I gaze into those pics, I hope that we can inspire others for their showers/parties because if I do say so myself…these I , think are “Pinterest” worthy.

We did it lovely ladies – yay to us!

So there isn’t actually a tutorial for this one, but we are pretty sure they just took 4 IKEA/any cork boards, sprayed them grey, and hung them all close together!

Pretty darn simple, and fantastic – huh!

Enjoy, and thanks for reading!

DIY Series: Tribal Footstool!

Ummm hello. Is that not the coolest thing you have ever seen! Started off as a standard leather footstool, found at a flea market and voila- magnifique- awesomeness!

So we at Nest have a Mama-to-be…and are throwing her an awesome baby shower in a little while. I thought that we could show you some of our ideas for the event…and then of course we will show you the actual event. Her colours are grey, white and yellow. And she loves chevrons.

With that said, I, N – designed the invitations (which we will show you later), and M, M’s sister and I have done all the decor. This week we will be tieing up all the loose ends of the party, and getting ready to play ridiculous games, and have a grand time!

How lovely are little parties… huh? Any excuse to decorate for me!

Thanks for reading, happy weekend!
