Story of MY life.
Happy weekend!
OMGoodness me don’t those look yummy! No real recipe, she just posted about her chip making endeavour…delish.
We found that via Cupcakes & Cashmere.
So our (me and the bf’s) really good friends were having a birthday/housewarming party this past weekend! They had been living there for a long while, and had yet to have a party because once they were all settled in – there was a flood in the condo! As this party was long due, and Laura and I have very similar tastes in decor/design and everything else, we needed to make this party one to remember!
Starting a secret Pinterest board, taking over the decor aspect completely without the boy knowing about it – we Pinterest(ed) it up! We decided on the theme Girls vs Boys.
We made a glittery banner for the girls, and a construction/kraft paper one for the boys.
Girl side: Crudités, chocolate covered strawberries, strawberry mojito, cupcakes, candy bar, cheese spread, mason jar drinks, lip confetti and candles for decor – as well as leopard black and gold napkins.
Guys side: Pulled pork sandwiches, jalapeño poppers, chips and salsa, Gin & Tonic station, charcuterie platter, and moustache mugs.
A fantastic time was had by all…and another one for the Toast portfolio!
Thanks Laura & Jordan, you guys throw a great party!
We apologize for being a little MIA lately…we are usually pretty on top of things. But with Nest being seriously busy, Toast starting up and M about ready to pop…us ladies have some serious stuff goin’ on!
So as we apologize to all you lovely peeps that want to hear the things we have to say twice a day…we may be in a bit of a daze for the next little while.
With all this business stuff going on, it really got me thinking!
Well you know how much I love revamping things every year or so…I think we may need a new face for this blog. I mean don’t get me wrong..I love what the sisters did, but they know me a little too well, and know that as I grow…my ideas of design change.
Hear me out.
I would love a place for interiors, events, family, life, personal style, fashion – to exist in one. So I am thinking of renaming this blog, and maybe expanding it a little to encompass Toast AND Nest. More of a lifestyle type. We will obviously continue Interior of the day, but we may occasionally pop in Event of the day, or fashion inspiration. I just want people to feel like this place is a place for all things Design & Life.
Any ideas lovelies? Let me know your thoughts!
Hey everyone, so remember when I mentioned that there would be big events. It seems like 2013 is our year huh!
Maya being preggers, Nest getting their first ever Muskoka cottage, and now….
…no not engaged…
I am starting a new company, an Event Design one. Teaming up with Steamwhistle Brewery- my friend Dana- I will now cater to birthday parties, baby showers, open houses, dinner parties, weddings…you name it!
I decided to call it Toast, because I wanted it to be about celebrations. Nothing specific to the style of party, but something everyone can relate to, like Nest.
After hosting Maya’s baby shower, I contacted Prairie Girl Bakery here in Toronto…and now they are using some of my pics on their FB page, and in their marketing – yay!
Here is a sneak peak of the images the sister and I took for the website – some of them we are not using, and some of them are “action/candid shots”.
Hope you like!
Making sure everything is centered!
Trying out new poses – yes me sitting on a table.
Being asked to adjust things by my “photographer” aka my sister.
Getting tired by the end, so maybe some sitting pics would be great?
Just incase: dress: Club Monaco, shoes: Zara, Turquoise necklace: Nicola Chong Jewellery, watch: Kate Spade, lips: Tarte Lip Surgence Lively, cupcake tier: West Elm
Oh my, chocolate brownies with raspberries hidden inside – yum yum!
We will definitely be trying this out, thanks ladies @ Liz & Jewels.
xo thanks for reading!
Have you Canadians ever heard of Prairie Girl Cupcakes?
O M Goodness. To die for!
This amazing bakery makes only cupcakes. Cupcakes of all sorts, special edition ones, unique flavoured ones, and some classic ones that boy-oh-boy knock your socks off.
M insisted that she get those cupcakes, and I was 150% on board with her. My sister almost had a heart attack when I told her that they – PGB – didn’t deliver/open on Sundays. THAT is how incredibly gluttonous we are.
We got them. We indulged. I still have some in the freezer to eat at a later time.
Well the lovely team over there is going to use some of the images my sister took of that day in their client meetings/web page etc. How awesome is that- so pumped!
Oh ya and the watermark on the bottom – my new company!
Stay tuned we are not ready to launch yet!
Happy Wednesday!
p.s. and how adorable is M all preggers – too cute!
*all images taken by us!
Well this past weekend was M’s Baby Shower!
Oh my it was fun, and I’ve been looking forward to it for such a long time! She is so preggers and so adorable…you’ll have to pinch me! She is really only showing in her lovely belly, and sometimes you can’t even tell she’s preggers. We had funny baby games, too much food, lovely desserts (Prairie Girl Cupcakes – uh to die for), so much help from the Mama’s (both our Mama’s rocked!) and my perfect assistant (my sister)…and just a ridiculously awesome wholesome fun time with so much love and presents (always a good thing).
Everything really went according to plan – although we had so many left overs…better than making our guests starve though..huh!
But man am I pooped- parties are a ton of work.
But as I gaze into those pics, I hope that we can inspire others for their showers/parties because if I do say so myself…these I , think are “Pinterest” worthy.
We did it lovely ladies – yay to us!

With M’s Baby shower coming up, trying to find “mama” friendly apps and healthy snacks is hard! So as someone who loves to eat – and does eat well. Granola with yogurt and fruit… is one of my faves. We found this recipe from Yummy Mummy Kitchen.
I prefer to use Liberte yogurt, Kashi Go Lean Crunch, and fresh fruit. But if you are interested in making your own- got for it!
